WHITE ROCK LAKE - DALLAS, TX

We were able to spend a lot of time with these homeowners throughout the years creating the perfect lake side home for their growing family. We began our relationship in 2014 with a major overhaul of the kitchen, primary bathroom, and upstairs laundry room. The small kitchen double in size by eliminating a separate prep pantry, and gave an opportunity to enlarge everything, including cooking surface, prep area, and island seating. Adorned with traditional touches, including a fluted backsplash tile, catherdral arched mullions, and ogee-edged wood island top, this kitchen was redigned from head to toe. In the primary bath and adjacent laundry, room, floor to ceiling cabinetry adorn the walls to triple storage space. Octogan-and-dot tile sit below a stunning claw foot slipper tub, and fluted bifold doors hide the lifted washer and dryer. Pops of color are also seen throughout the home like the red counters and seating in the laundry, and a green color wash in the library.

The sunroom – also worked on in the original renovation – boasts new slate floor tile mirroring a fun, butterfly adorned wallpapered ceiling. The entertainment center and desk were replace with custom cabinets to match the neighboring kitchen. Several years later, this family was ready to expand some living space by adding a full mudroom and haf bath off the sunroom, and extending the garage. The 10-foot addition to the garage was completed to fit these requirements, extending the roof line and adding some new elements, like a dog washing station. The mudroom hosts a fully stocked paneled fridge for quickly grabbing drinks and snacks, and a secondary washer and dryer for sports attire from the kids – dropped off right after they get home. Closet-like cubbies allow for haning purses, jackets, and backpacks, while shoes can be placed below the seated bench. Additional camping and cleaning storage sits at the end with a place for boots, and the dog to get away and rest in peace.

The first floor of this home didn’t original have a second bathroom for guests, so one was also created during the addition. A heavy duty farmhouse wash bowl doubles as a quick wash station for dirty boots or extra-soiled clothing. The floor to ceiling tile with floret details not only looks fabulous, but creates an almost-indestructable space for the whole family. And while the back of the house was getting an upgade, we helped the family transition their partially finished attic to a teenagers dream bedroom. Shiplap styled paneling, new floors, and a fresh coat of paint really fixed up this space, and the addition of two finished closets ensured the perfect high-school hangout zone.
