This 100-year-old kitchen renovation honors the rich architectural heritage of its original 1925 Tudor Revival home while embracing contemporary functionality and style. The design centers around a dramatic visual transformation – a new elongated hip roof with exposed beams – and deep saturated tones in the cabinetry, walls and trim, striking a contrast with modern professional-style appliances and sleek surfaces. The spatial layout is crafted for a homeowner who both cooks daily, and is a gracious entertainer, encouraging guests to cook alongside them. 

Thoughtful work zones supporting a two-person cooking space were created while still allowing a single cook efficient cooking experience. A smaller, segmented breakfast table as a part of the kitchen, and a shallow movable island table provide additional space for casual hosting, and research space when grabbing a cookbook from the “library” and choosing the perfect recipe to try next. The fusion of historical touches on a contemporary designed space – clean lines, simple materials, open sightlines, and layered lighting elements – results in a kitchen that feels timeless yet fresh. Every detail – from hardware to exposed beams, appliances to viewpoint from the dining room – reflects the designs excellent craftsmanship and usability, making this space not only a visual centerpiece but also a culinary powerhouse.
