The homeowner’s Highland Park condo was dark and dreary. The kitchen had dark wood cabinets with heavy detailing on the cabinet doors, granite countertops, and a dark brown backsplash. The bathroom had travertine tile on the floors, a build in tub with a dark tile surround and a dark vanity with granite countertops. The client was ready to lighten things up but wanted to keep the traditional style to fit the rest of the home. We refaced her kitchen cabinets and painted the perimeter cabinets white and painted the island taupe. We also installed quartz countertops and a marble waterjet backsplash to make sure this home stood out from others. In the bathroom we got rid of the built in tub and installed a freestanding tub. We also retiled the bathroom with white marble, painted her vanity, and installed new quartz countertops. Now these spaces feel lighter and brighter!
