Next to the cost of a kitchen remodel, one of the most popular questions we get in our kitchen showroom is “How long does the kitchen remodel process usually take?” The short answer for us is 10-12 weeks, but that varies with the scope of the individual project in addition to a few other variables. It is everyone’s hope that the project runs smoothly without any delays, but, with so many moving parts, we expect some surprises and have learned to deal with them efficiently. For example, we might get into a wall and find that there has been damage caused by leaky pipes or unwanted visitors (such as termites). But, no matter the exact situation, we at Kitchen Design Concepts pride ourselves on open and regular communication with our clients so that together we make the right decisions in a timely manner to keep the project humming along. The basic kitchen remodel process consists of the steps below, however, there are many activities that occur at each step, especially in the construction/installation phase.
Pull Out Drawers, Cabinets and Shelves! Oh My!
One thing I love about designing and remodeling new kitchen spaces for our clients is the chance to incorporate little luxuries that make life so much easier! Pull out cabinetry in the way of shelving, spice racks and even trash and recycling makes a world of difference in the level of love you have for your kitchen. Check out these kitchen amenities below and start thinking about ways you can improve your kitchen (and your life)!
NARI-Certified Remodeler in Our Midst
At Kitchen Design Concepts, we are pleased and proud that one of our own is a NARI-certified remodeler and, in fact, one of only about 22 women to hold the Certified Remodeler designation from NARI. Jennifer Sherrill is the President of Kitchen Design Concepts and is active in the remodeling community. As a member of the NARI board, she oversees the education committee and loves helping others gain the knowledge they need to step up their expertise and skills in this exciting field. If you are in Dallas and by one of our showrooms, either in Carrollton or in the Lakewood area, please stop by to say hello to Jennifer and the rest of the Kitchen Design Concepts team!

Clever Kitchen Banquettes
When I think of banquettes, the word clever comes to mind due to their functionality. First, they are super nifty for making great use of space. When you don’t have a lot of room in your kitchen, banquettes are nice because you don’t have to allow for extra room that you need when using chairs that are going to be pulled out only to go back in. Another great advantage is that you can often squeeze in an extra person with a banquette because you don’t need the side space required of chairs and, because there is no seam, people can sit continuously along the banquette without discomfort.
