NKBA/NARI Cornhole Tournament Champions

This is not our average Kitchen Design Concepts blog post, but you know what? We still think it’s a great one! You can be the judge…

On Tuesday, April 19, 2022, at 5:30 PM, your favorite Kitchen Design Concepts team headed to Levantina Stone Center in Dallas for the annual NKBA and NARI Cornhole Tournament. This year we had two teams competing, and a few of us actually helped put the event together! This is one of our favorite team outings of the year. And the best news? One of our fabulous teams was crowned CHAMPIONS at the end of the evening!

Kitchen Design Concepts Play-By-Play

6:00 PM

The games began, and our first team – The Kitchen Girls, consisting of Chris and Roshel – face off against The Holy Queens, our friends from California Closets. Our second team – KDC, comprised of Zach and Erica – wait patiently to play The Dynamos. Due to a scheduling conflict, The Dynamos are rescheduled to play at a later time against The Corn Stars (the dynamic duo of Heather Mullally and Vivienne Notelovitz – NKBA powerhouses). Team KDC moves up to face off against Tool Bag, one of the many Milwaukee Tools teams to enter the competition

6:30 PM

The Kitchen Girls are unable to make it past the first round but hey – more food, drinks, and time to cheer on Team KDC! Meanwhile, Zach and Erica take the lead and move swiftly on to round two – another Milwaukee team, cleverly named Team Milwaukee.

7:00 PM

Another win for Team KDC means they move on to round three. Roshel has no doubt turned into the number one cheerleader and is likely intimidating future competition to help moral support. We suspect Chris has tried to keep her cool, while secretly cheering even louder on the inside. Round three begins against Team Lee Lighting.

7:30 PM

We are closing in on the end of round three and times are getting tough. Zach and Erica have found their groove. Erica claims “it’s 90% Zach” and he rebuts “Lies. Erica is making all the important ones.” Together, they are proving unstoppable, and a third win is clinched.

8:00 PM

Roshel is now officially reporting LIVE to all Kitchen Design Concepts team members who were unable to claim their front row tickets to the final rounds. She is also now officially claimed her stake as Team KDC’s number one fan. Erica and Zach get a much-deserved break and have made the executive decision that we will require a set of corn hole boards for the new showroom in our “Flex” room. Rebecca is tasked to ensure the room is designed to cornhole regulation length. Mary Kathryn has sent in virtual support and agreed to investigate getting KDC cornhole boards for future use. Meanwhile, the final four teams have begun to play. Team KDC takes on Stonemode.

8:30 PM

Erica and Zach have pulled out another spectacular win, and are now moving on to the FINAL ROUND! They will either play Levantina C (one of the Levantina teams) or Team Express Yo’Self (the Expressions Home Gallery team). Team Express Yo’Self pulls out a win and also moves on to the finals.

9:00 PM

Without a live stream, it’s hard for us all to keep tabs on the game, but we finally hear word from our on-site reporter, Roshel. TEAM KDC HAS WON! Tons of text messages full of support and images of the winners flood our phones…

Congratulations to Team KDC: Zach and Erica!

Because of this, we have a few new ideas for what the “KDC” in Team KDC stands for. We’re thinking one of the following:

  • Knockout “Da” Competition (purely motivational option)
  • Kindly Dominating Cornhole (little sweet, little sour option)
  • Killers, Destroyers, Champions (most ruthless option)

Want to vote? Let us know through your favorite social media channel! We will be polling on both Facebook and Instagram stories on April 21-22 to find out your favorite! And as always, we love hanging out with our Kitchen Design Concepts team, as well as our industry partners and friends. The win is just the cherry on top of a fabulous evening. We cannot wait for the next one!
