Getting to know our team is important to us, not just on a professional level, but also on a personal level. See, our jobs are not just designing, but about creating relationships with people we encounter every day. Recently, we’ve introduced a new position here at kitchen design concepts, “project coordinator”, and this position deals with projects on many levels. So, we thought, what better time to get to know Susan, our project coordinator! Susan has 8 years of experience in the kitchen and bath industry and we are grateful to have her on our team! Here’s a little Q&A we had with Susan to get to know her a little better:
How would you describe your design style?
Clean, simple, but fun
If someone wanted to DIY their kitchen remodel, what advice would you give them?
Depends on what they want done, and their level of expertise. If they were fairly handy and it was a ‘Revive’ type, then go for it. If it was more involved as in total remodel, I would advise against it, even if they were handy. Projects just go more smoothly when a professional handles all the moving parts.
What is an average day for you like?
I don’t have average days, lol. So much depends on what goes on at the jobs and whether there are issues that I can help with. Depends on jobs sold and how busy I am getting the orders placed and job books made.
What are 3 words that describe you?
Helpful, friendly, knowledgeable
If you could go back to your first year as a project coordinator, what is one thing you wish you knew then that you know now?
I am in my first year, started really in June after helping Abigail get oriented. So far, I haven’t found anything I can point my finger at
What is your favorite phase of a project (the pre-design work, the beginning/demo, middle, or end/completion)?
Demo is absolutely a blast, but I like laying out the bones of the kitchen, like a puzzle.
What does ‘Kitchen Design Concepts’ mean to you?
This company has been a great experience. I think we all work together fabulously, so they are like a second family.
Tell me one fun fact about you that no one really knows.
I like being a handyman
