Meet Our Designer! Pt.2

From being born in Texas, moving to the east coast and now back to Texas (and working with us!), we introduce you to our designer, Dru! She has been designing kitchens and baths for years and we can confidently say she’s pretty good at it. Her designs have been featured in magazines and she’s won awards. So, we decided to get to know her a little better. Take a look at our fun interview with Dru below:

How would you describe your design style?

My design style would be defined as classic meets contemporary meets casual… the three “C”’s

What is your favorite part about working with clients?

My favorite part would be presenting a new design and explaining the thought process I went through for their new space. I really enjoy giving my clients a whole different way of looking at their space! I also love seeing my clients happy with the final result.

If someone wanted to DIY their kitchen remodel, what advice would you give them?

Plan, plan, plan and remember it is your kitchen! So, make it your own with your own unique selections and reflect your lifestyle. On a side note, it’s always a good idea to seek advice from a professional as well.

What is an average day for you like?

No average day…. Each day is so different which makes it fun and interesting! One day I could be at my desk all day doing drawings, another day I could be out all day with clients or visiting showrooms planning for a client.

What are 3 words that describe you?

Creative, personable and trustworthy

Where do you look to for inspiration?

Magazines, fashion, architecture and nature.

If you could go back to your first year as a designer, what is one thing you wish you knew then that you know now?

How to use our software 2020! I have always done everything by hand, so starting to input everything in the system was a learning curve, but now it’s a huge time saver!

If you could have a celebrity as a client, who would it be and why?

Lady Gaga …could you even imagine? Or on the flip side Princess Grace…what a classic style.

What is your favorite phase of a project (the pre-design work, the beginning/demo, middle, or end/completion)?

Love the design phase and seeing the vision in the completion of course!!!

When you’re not busy designing at work, what do you spend your time doing?

Painting, ceramics, skiing, biking, sailing and just plain relaxing J I love watching Sunday football and enjoying a great glass of wine (or two)!

What does ‘Kitchen Design Concepts’ mean to you?

KDC means integrity and quality without a question. I feel very fortunate to come from the east coast and have the opportunity to work with such a great group of people here in Texas, total top notch all the way. I love to always be learning and exploring new processes and ideas and this job has given me the opportunity to do so every day.

Tell me one fun fact about you that no one really knows.

Only my hair dresser knows! No not telling J…. Umm…. I was actually born in Texas and now I am back after way many years? Pretty boring I know.

Thank you, Dru for allowing us to get to know you a little better!
