First Friday Feature: A Striking and Modern Kitchen

In our world of kitchen design, it’s lovely to see all the varieties of styles come to life. We design anywhere from traditional to modern, and everything in between. Today in our “First Friday Feature”, we present a two-tone modern kitchen that has used materials in a fresh and eye-catching way. With a mix of finishes, it blends perfectly together to create a space that flows and is the pulsating heart of the home. I mean, who wouldn’t want to spend time in this kitchen?! Let’s take a look as we break down the details.

Cabinetry

The use of two-tone in this space is so smart and balanced. All the base cabinets give a natural feel to the space. They are from Elmwood in full access frameless, New Haven door style, walnut vertical grain match wood, natural matte finish, a 1/16″ radius edge, with a birch plywood interior. The white wall cabinets pair perfectly with the light countertops and they are also from Elmwood with a Ventura MDF door in a White Diamond Gloss finish.

Countertops

Another smart use of materials are the countertops. These tops bounce off the colors of the cabinetry creating a uniform, yet striking look. The white countertops on the perimeter and on both islands are from Caesarstone in a Frosty Carrina finish, and the added bar on the second countertop is a custom walnut top (made by the homeowner!) with a shorter seated table made from Caesarstone’s Raw Concrete.

Backsplash

The backsplash is another added natural touch to the space. The natural stone gives warmth and provides movement. The stone is from Marble Systems from the Mod Glam Collection, Blocks – Glacier honed, in Snow White polished finish, and added Brass. In addition, a 1/2×12 Snow White Pencil Liner was used to outline exposed ends (by microwave).

Fixtures

The golden fixtures bounce off one another (even the little golden details in the backsplash too). The sink is a Blanco Precis Silgranit Cascade Super Single Bowl Kitchen in White 519453. The faucet is a Waterstone transitional pulldown Model 5800-3 in New Bronze CLZ. The filtration faucet is a Waterstone Parche Hot/Cold MODEL NO. 1400HC in New Bronze. The air switch and disposal switch are also from Waterstone in bronze. Lastly, the hardware on the cabinetry is from Emtek Trinity pulls, brass, in various sizes.
