We say challenging because, one, it’s a big decision to make, and two, it’s not every day you’re deciding the finish for a very important room in your home! Overall, there are three main groups of finishes to choose from. We use paint, stains, and slab surfaces. Then, to make it even more interesting, each of these categories has sub-categories where you can add a glaze to paint, for instance. Ready to learn more? Then continue reading below!

Painted Finishes

We’ll start with the most well-known category, paint. Utilizing a painted finish for your kitchen is exciting because the options are essentially endless. We can even utilize color codes to match any surface. Really love the specific color of grass in your backyard? Take a picture of it and we can match that exact color! Oh, technology. Gotta love all the things we can do these days!

Stained Finishes

A stained surface is another well-known category for cabinet finishes. A stain is a product used on wood surfaces that enhance and highlight the natural textures and tones already found on wood. If you’re looking for something a bit more natural, then a stain is a great place to start. To add even more interest to your stain, we can incorporate glazes and distressing as well!

Slab Surfaces

A slab surface is an option for cabinets with flat fronts. What’s exciting about these is that there are a variety of options to choose from such as melamine’s, textures melamine’s, foils, high gloss acrylics, and veneers. Slab fronts can either be completely smooth or if you go with textured melamine could get the feel of real wood, without the wood price tag. Keep in mind though, slab fronts can also be painted and stained.
