The kitchen is truly the heart and soul of the home and can easily be designed to express the lifestyle and personalities of the people who live there. So is there anything special about a kitchen designed to accommodate a vegan lifestyle?
A vegan diet, in essence, is the absence of animal products; meat, fish, poultry, eggs, etc. A typical vegan diet consists of all grains, beans, legumes, vegetables, fruit, and the numerous combinations of these tasty ingredients.
The windows in this kitchen and the breathtaking views create the perfect backdrop for this nature inspired kitchen of your dreams. The oversized island is a great place to display baskets of produce as well as provide ample space for food preparation.
The use of natural colors and materials gives this kitchen a very organic and comforting feel. We complimented these design choices with the sleek and simple look of two or our favorite appliances; the induction cooktop and the microwave drawer!
We added a cut-out to the left of the sink to act as a trash chute to compost discarded organic matter. This decomposed matter can then be used as fertilizer in the garden!
Additional refrigerators were placed in the garage to accommodate the amount of refrigeration needed while keeping space in the kitchen for entertaining.
We hope you enjoyed this look at a nature inspired kitchen for a vegan lifestyle, stay tuned for more entries in our series “A Kitchen For:”! To see kitchens highlighting other lifestyles check out A Kitchen For: a Chef or A Kitchen For: Baking.
