A Feel-Good Kitchen Revive Story

Today we’ve got a special, feel-good, kitchen Revive story to share! Actually, this story starts about 15 years ago. We first remodeled the same kitchen, in the same house, for the same family. So, when they contacted us to do a Revive of their kitchen, there was no hesitation on our part. Of course, we’d want to join in on their kitchen journey again! And fun fact, this was one of Kitchen Design Concepts very first projects, making this extra special to us. Ready to learn more? Read all about this special project below!

The Backstory

This was a typical 1939 Preston Hollow ranch home when we did the first project back in 2004. They loved their house but the kitchen was for sure in need of a massive overhaul. So, when we initially came into the picture 15 years ago, we designed the 6 person family space with Shiloh cabinetry from W.W. Woods, granite countertops, Dacor appliances and a very special wood top island with a custom table that can be flush with island top to extend the island or pulled away to create a stand-alone table. That exact same layout and Shiloh cabinetry has been re-utilized and revived for their new and improved space! The great thing about quality cabinetry is it lasts a long time and has the ability to be revitalized time and time again.

Several years after we did the first project this family embarked on a whole home remodel which included a second story addition to better accommodate their 6 person family. One important message they gave the contractor was “don’t touch the kitchen, we love it!”. For years they continued to love the kitchen and the functionality and layout worked great for them, however, they wanted to update the aesthetic, so it became a facelift type project.

Time to Revive

This was where our Revive process was a great option for them. Revive takes an already awesome kitchen, that is starting to look dated and brings life back into it! The inspiration for this space was “lighter” and “brighter”. We achieved this by painting the cabinets a crisp white, installing 2CM Bianco Carrara Honed Marble on the countertops and backsplash, except for the floating shelf accent wall where we installed Renaissance Tile – Handmade 8×8 Cement Tiles in Laurent Gray.

We love that we were able to “grow up” with this special family and make changes to their kitchens as their needs have evolved from 15 years ago. Learn more about Revive here!
