Thanksgiving Day is about family, friends and experimenting in the kitchen. Bringing people together for a big meal means opportunity to try new things – how else could we have perfected the brown bag turkey or discovered the turducken?
Go from Social to Serious Business with Kitchen Desk Space
The kitchen is the heart of the house – every family member spends time there, which is why considering a desk space near the kitchen is a great idea. It can be an efficient family “command center” and more (I love having a computer in the kitchen for looking up recipes and cooking videos). Best of all, a desk space can be integrated into almost any kitchen design. Kitchen Design Concepts created this desk space that blends in alongside the well-hidden refrigerator.
It’s Not Too Late to Take a Tour
Participating in a Tour of Homes is a great way to discover hidden neighborhoods and find inspiration for your own remodel. Last weekend, Kitchen Design Concepts sponsored the annual AIA Tour of Homes, which was filled with it’s own plethora of hidden gems.
Jenn-Air is an Innovation Gem
Here at Kitchen Design Concepts, we love getting excited about the latest kitchen developments. Luxury appliance brand Jenn-Air is one of the leaders in kitchen advancement, since the first self-ventilated cooktop in 1961. Our Co-Founder, Mary Kathryn Reese, recently attended a Jenn-Air Master Class series and left eager to share about the latest products.
A Universal Kitchen has Something for Everyone
With tricks of the trade like the lifestyle assessment, Kitchen Design Concepts will tailor your kitchen remodel to your unique lifestyle – but what about the other people in your life? This is where the idea ofuniversal kitchen design comes in – a design that allows your kitchen to “age-in-place.” It’s not about avoiding outdated features, but acknowledging that everyone’s abilities change over time and finding one good solution to meet the needs of a broad range of users.
Always Delicious Despite the Debate
No matter what side of the Chick-fil-A debate you stand, the fact of the matter is – it’s delicious. The restaurant has created a cult following of lovers of their waffle fries, sweet tea and above all, their perfectly spiced, always tender chicken – and I am a member of the fan club.
Eco-Friendly Protection from Pests
Pests happen. A kitchen doesn’t have to be dirty for the occasional little critter to make an appearance, but when they do it can be disheartening. Especially after a big kitchen remodel when everything seems so clean and new! Don’t call the exterminator yet – there are simple ways you can discourage bugs without subjecting your new kitchen to harsh chemicals.
The Pleasures of Plain Vanilla
As a Texas native, I can appreciate the delicious simplicity of vanilla ice cream. Not only did I grow up with (in my opinion) the creme de la creme of sweet treats – Blue Bell’s Homemade Vanilla – but nothing makes you appreciate a cool dessert like sweltering heat. It’s no surprise that July is both National Hot Dog Month and National Ice Cream Month – Independence Day wouldn’t be the same without either – but today is specifically reserved for ice cream of a certain simple flavor. Reconnect with good ’ol uncomplicated vanilla in honor of National Vanilla Ice Cream Day and try your hand at homemade ice cream.
